For thanksgiving!  Thanksgiving Holiday is this Thursday.  It is so easy to allow this very special day to get lost in the excitement for the upcoming Christmas Holiday.  feeling-thankfulChristmas decorations are in stores before Halloween and the music playing before Thanksgiving.  It appears that merchandisers have caused the entire holiday season to shift earlier.  Christmas decorations are on sale at the beginning of the season and mostly gone before Christmas day.  Thanksgiving day has become almost as big a shopping day as Black Friday, which cuts into family time.  It is unfortunate that this beautiful season has become so commercialized

It is up to us to ensure that the true purpose for the Thanksgiving Holiday is recognized in our own life and family.  This day was initially set aside to offer thanks to God for freedom, family and provision.  We celebrate family by gathering together and definitely enjoy the provision of a big meal.  But do we truly offer thanks to God on this special day?  It is a matter of the heart.

What is in your heart and on your mind this week?  Is it true appreciation for the life you enjoy?  Or, is it stress, or even dread, about the shopping, cooking and activities of the next few weeks?

Take sufficient time to focus on your blessings.  Maybe even count them one by one.  This will better enable you to live . . . your life to the fullest.
