My recent road trip vacation included several detours, beginning on the very first day.  We had planned to drive to St. Louis, Missouri and spend the night, but we left town later than expected so we didn’t make it quite that far.  Paducah, Kentucky was our home for that night.paducah

The next morning, at the recommendation of the very nice desk clerk, we drove the few miles into town to see the mural along the river walk.  We were so glad we did!  The wall that was several blocks long was filled with the most beautiful paintings of the history of Paducah!  Vivid colors and lifelike artistry made it almost come alive before our eyes.

Many of the wonderful experiences on our vacation were the unplanned ones.  Isn’t this just the way it is with life?  We can plan and stress over a particular event or outing trying to make it special with only mediocre results.  But it is often those times when things don’t go as planned that we end up enjoying the most!

Don’t get upset when things don’t go according to your plan.  Instead, find the delightful in the detour so you can live! . . . your life to the fullest.
